Bus Number & Stops - Bus Route Street List 2025-26
Route Information –
All routes are designed to follow New York State Guidelines for Public School Transportation. The following two basic guidelines are used to create routes.
1. Capacity: All buses have a manufacturer's designed seating capacity. According to state guidelines, each bus needs to assign students so that it meets at least 80% of buses capacity.
2. Travel Time: The guidelines also state that each school district should make every effort to keep the non-stop, continuous travel times of any one student to no more then one hour. This does not include the time needed for loading and unloading students. In addition to the state guidelines, we make every effort is insure that all elementary students have assigned seating.
1. Our goal is to have the younger children assigned to the front of the bus.
2.The remaining seats are assigned in age order, so that the further you go back in the bus the older the students are.
3.There are exceptions to this rule, when requested younger students are permitted to sit with older siblings and neighbors. If you need bus route numbers and estimated pick-up or drop-off times for your child's route, please contact your child's school main office or transportation dispatch at 607-648-7573. We do not provide access to information regarding our bus routes, numbers, location or times to the general public.

Weather Related School Closings
School closing are primarily determined in early morning of the school day. The Superintendent and Transportation Director determine if school should be delayed or closed. This decision is based on the information collected from Broome and Chenango Counties, the local Highway Departments, and Emergency Services and by physically traveling our district roads. Our district covers a large area spanning over 55 square miles. We have on occasion had severe weather that impacts only a portion of the district.
All school delay and/or closing information will be provided to local TV and radio stations, and will be posted on the schools website. We make every effort possible to get this information to the stations as early as we can, usually prior to the 6:00 am broadcasts.
Using our district communication system, calls and text messages are made to phone numbers on file. Data is pulled from our student management system. If your phone has blocked numbers we recommend that you unblock that number.
Emergency Closings
During the School Day
When there is an situation that warrants an emergency closure of school after the day has begun, information will be provided to the public as soon as the emergency allows.Parents will be notified through ParentSquare using all contact numbers stored in our student management system.
Other Closings
Information can be found on the District Calendar for Superintendent's Conference Days, recesses and other districtwide closings. Building-specific closings such as scheduled half-days and Regents testing days can be found on the building calendars. -
Alternate Site Transportation
Alternate site transportation applies when your child needs to be transported somewhere other than your own home. (For example, babysitter, grandparents or programs such as Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.) All alternate sites must be within the Chenango Forks School District. Information regarding district boundaries can be obtained by contacting your child’s school main office.
Permanent Locations (Childcare Provider)
You must contact the main office of the school your child attends to make all arrangements. The main office staff will give the bus driver a permanent bus note, informing the bus driver that your child will be going to the designated location.
Daily Location
For changes to the location that need to be changed for a daily stop, you must contact the main office of the school your child attends to make all arrangements. The main office staff will give a bus note to your child to give to the driver notifying him/her of the transportation change.
