CINCO DE MAYO: Our students at CFE were able to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Friday. The holiday represents the resilience of the Mexican people during the invasion by the French empire in the 19th century!

MOON TREE: Today our Interact Club with the assistance of some science classes, planted a 'moon tree'. This extraordinary tree, grown from a seed that journeyed to the moon and back during the Apollo 14 mission in 1971, represents a remarkable fusion of science, space exploration, and environmental stewardship. The tree was generously donated to the school by the Nimmonsburg-Hillcrest Rotary.

ECONOMICS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Our second and fourth-grade students dove into the world of economics and entrepreneurship through Junior Achievement programs last week. These interactive lessons provided valuable insights into money management and business fundamentals, preparing our students for future success. In second grade, these lessons are delivered by students from CFHS who participate in the Southern Tier Teaching Academy.




CHICKENS: Have you ever been up close and personal with a chicken? Students at CFE had the opportunity to learn more about this incredible creature. Did you know there are over 1,600 different breeds of chickens on this planet?

RISE AND SHINE: Thank you to Mr. Castle’s class and Mrs. Aurelio’s class for leading our Rise and Shine Assembly last Thursday for our 4th and 5th graders. The focus for this assembly was on habit 6, which is to Synergize. This means working together as a team toward a common goal. Our 5th grade band synergized to learn our CFE School Song and played the song for us to Congratulations to out shout outs!

YOUTH PROGRAMS: The Continuing Education and Workforce Development office is excited to announce their new Hornet Institute, summer programs for rising high school freshmen and sophomores. These programs aim to provide exposure to careers within the region while engaging students in exciting, hands-on activities and tours of local industries.
