Dear Chenango Forks Families,

As fall arrives and the leaves begin to change, we look forward to the many seasonal traditions and activities that make this time of year so special across Forks Nation. One of the highlights for our district community is our annual Pumpkin Run at the end of October, which brings together students, families, and staff for a fun and healthy celebration of the season. We also want to extend our sincere thanks to all of the families who joined us for Open Houses at Chenango Forks Elementary, the Middle School, and the High School. Your participation strengthens the vital partnership between home and school, and it was wonderful to see such strong turnout across our buildings.

Character Education: Be Proactive

In October, our Character Education Focus continues to be “Be Proactive,” drawn from "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Students are learning how taking initiative and responsibility helps them become leaders in their own learning and relationships.

Family Tip: At home, encourage your child to “Be Proactive” by planning ahead for the next school day—packing their backpack, choosing clothes, or setting goals for the week. Small steps build big leadership habits!

As we continue our work in developing leadership capacity and opportunities for our students, I want to make sure that our community is aware that on Friday, October 16 we will be changing this day to a half-day of instruction for staff development and planning in these areas.

Important Safety & Community Reminders

E-Bike & Recreational Vehicle Safety Law: We want to ensure our entire community is aware of the law regarding ebikes, electric scooters, UTVs, and other recreational vehicles. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate any type of e-bike on public roadways or public lands, and helmets are required for riders ages 16–17. The Broome County Sheriff’s office educational warning period concluded in late August, and we appreciate your support in discussing safety with your children to keep everyone safe on and near campus.

Stadium & Event Expectations: As we gather to support our student-athletes at home athletic contests, please keep our campus safety expectations in mind. Students in grades K–6 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Additionally, please note that parking in the loop behind the stadium bleachers and the Aquatics Center is reserved strictly for handicapped parking and official use. Thank you for your help in making sure that all of our Forks Family members are able to come and root on our Blue Devils with pride!

Thank you for your continued engagement, partnership, and support of Forks Nation as we work together to build “A Community Where All Learners Grow and Excel!”
