When learning a new language, it can be an enriching experience to interact with someone who has been speaking that language their entire life.
In Senora Black's class, Guest Speaker Juan Mendoza (03') was able to join the group via Zoom for an update about his life post-Chenango Forks.
Mendoza's family is from Ecuador and moved to Chenango Forks while he was in elementary school.
As Mendoza spoke to the class in Spanish, he discussed the benefits and difficulties that he has experienced in his life.
After graduating in 2003, Mendoza went on to pursue a degree from the University of Notre Dame and moved to the City of Los Angeles.
It wasn't all about the guest speaker, however, Mendoza engaged the students by asking about plans for their own future.
Towards the end of their conversation, he provided advice. He said that they should enjoy their time at CF because it goes by too quickly. Many of his close friends are people that he met at CF.
Mendoza challenged the students to do things that scare them a little and to take courses outside of their chosen field so that they can experience new things.
