CHENANGO FORKS, N.Y. – David Chickanosky, a retired Chenango Forks High School biology teacher and football coach, is collaborating with Chenango Forks High School Science Department to identify trees he planted with students during his teaching career.

Each tree, planted with a different graduating class, will receive a new plaque displaying its name and species. The plaques will be created with assistance from the school’s art and technology departments and installed along the Chickanosky Arboretum, located at the Kattelville Road entrance to the high school.

The arboretum will serve as an educational resource for biology and environmental science classes, science clubs, and future generations. Chickanosky’s legacy continues through these trees, which will be used for classification and study, as well as for the enjoyment of the community.
