CHENANGO FORKS, N.Y. – New York State Senator Shelley Mayer, Chair of the Senate Education Committee, visited Chenango Forks Central School District on Thursday. Senator Mayer was joined by State Senator Lea Webb (52 District) to meet with students and discuss key education issues affecting schools statewide, as well as highlight the district's partnership with Broome-Tioga BOCES through their New Energy CTE Program.
During the visit, the senators engaged with a student panel on topics such as the state's approach to cell phone bans in schools, school safety, and initiatives supporting social-emotional wellness. The panel provided students an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on these critical issues.
The visit underscored Chenango Forks CSD's dedication to student involvement in discussions about education policy, fostering a sense of empowerment among students and encouraging their active participation in shaping the future of education.
