Forks Finest

The following article was written by a Chenango Forks Student.

Chenango Forks, New York - Everyone knows the people that go into making a school work, the teachers, principals, and superintendents of the world. They all carry roles that are vital in the education of our students and the functioning of our schools, but they don’t do it alone.

Sometimes we forget to acknowledge the finer roles that keep our school afloat, which takes us into the goal of Forks Finest. Here, we will recognize the people who sit below our student radars with all that they do, we will understand why they do it, and we will hear their message. Our first of Forks Finest will be none other than Dave Moran, the best janitor around.

If you have any experience at Forks you have probably had the pleasure of interacting with Dave. You can’t miss him, as he seems to be fixing something in every part of the Middle, and high school, at the same time. The messes and things that need to be fixed never seem to stop coming, so Dave never stops either. Dave said that he likes to think of himself as, “the grease for the squeaky wheel”.

Although Dave stays pretty busy, he never loses track of the small things that really matter. Ask any senior, and they’ll tell you the same. Every year, toward the end of the 2nd semester, Dave comes to the seniors and hands them back business cards that they gave him in 6th grade as a project in English, as a memory of our accomplishments, and as friends who have watched us turn from children to adults. This is only one of the many meaningful things Dave does for the students. Some other quick ones include helping a lucky student raise the flag every morning, stopping for conversations at lunch, and helping in the clean up of middle school lunch shenanigans.

"You guys are people too, and every person deserves respect and a friend" - Dave Moran

This quote is what Dave wants all the students to know. He said that he appreciates all the friendships he has made here, and is honored to be able to see us go on to do amazing things.
