JUNETEENTH: Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history marking the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, freedom reached the last enslaved African Americans in Texas, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
TEDDY BEAR PICNIC: How cute is this? Mrs. Marble's PreK class hosted a 'teddy bear picnic' last week! Each student brought their favorite stuffed animal and snack outside and enjoyed the weather with a nice cold popsicle!
ATTENTION: In preparation for the high Heat Index for next week we will be making the following adjustments.
We will be following the NYSPHSAA Heat Index guidelines for outdoor activities to limit them if the index gets too high.
On Tuesday June 18th, the last day of attendance for CFE and the MS, we will be dismissing early. CFE will dismiss at Noon and the MS will dismiss at 12:15. MS students will receive a Grab & Go Lunch.
CFE and MS students will be riding busses in the same trip.
We have already moved NYS Regents exams and other final exams to areas in proximity to air conditioning.
The 8th Grade Moving up Ceremony has already been scheduled to take place in our air-conditioned auditorium.
FRIENDSHIP BENCH: While talking with Ms. Janda one day, fifth-grader, Levi reminisced about how he met one of his best friends. According to Levi, it was in second grade on the 'friendship bench' near the playground. This year, he helped repaint the same bench. Other students added their handprints to it to show unity. Levi's advice to others? If they ever feel alone; sit on the friendship bench and make a new friend!
