Summer Reading Program

Hello and welcome to this year's summer reading program!

The idea for this year’s Summer Reading Program is fairly simple.

  1. Read as many books as you can this summer!

  2. When we return in the fall, we’ll have a party after school with games and snacks and music, and talk about what we read this summer.

  3. Bonus: If you hand Ms. Seaver a list of what you read this summer, you will be entered into a giveaway during the party, and may win free books and other prizes!

Where you can read

  1. The public library!  You can apply for a temporary library card by emailing the Broome County Public Library at BCPLTempCard@gmail.com with your name, date of birth, address, and contact info.  Temporary cards will let you check out ebooks from their wonderful online collection, but if you bring an adult to the library with you, they can turn your temporary card into a permanent one, which will let you check out books at the library as well.

  2. The SORA ebook library is also available for you to use during the summer!  Feel free to check out these lists for recommendations in specific genres, or just browse what's available here: https://soraapp.com/library/btbocesny/generated-257751/page-1

You can read on SORA on any device, even on your phone.  There’s also an app if you’d prefer to use that instead of the browser.

  1. Website:  https://soraapp.com/library/btbocesny

  2. App:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.sora&hl=en_US&gl=US

Whichever way you use SORA, it will ask you to choose your school - when it does that, select “Broome-Tioga BOCES” from the drop-down list.  And then login using your MyApps username and password.

Looking for a book on SORA?  We have genre reading lists! https://www.cforks.org/SummerReadingProgramReadingList1.aspx

If you have any questions, or would like a personalized book recommendation, feel free to email Ms. Seaver at seaverj@cforks.org.

Happy reading!
