Reglas (Rules)
Attendance
Attend class each day. If you are in the building, you are expected to attend class. If you have a music lesson, field trip, or other reason for not being in class you are expected to let Mrs. Black know of your impending absence. Even if you are not in class, you are still responsible for the work. All work is posted on iTunes U. You will see the outline of the day's activities, any material you need to download as well as the homework for the day. As always, don't hesitate to ask questions about the information that was covered that day.
Class Materials
We will be using a lot of technology in our curriculum. Students will be exposed to the same technology that they will be expected to know how to use in college and in their careers. Students will receive their login and passwords in the first full week of classes.
We will not be using a traditional textbook this year. Most work will be done digitally using iPads. Each student will be assigned an iPad to be used during the year. Each until of study will be in the form of an iBook. These electronic books will contain the course content, videos to explain the content, homework, and links to outside sources that correlate with the topic.
All course materials will be accessible through iTunesU. Many documents will be in a downloadable format for printing purposes. Some students may prefer to have paper copies of the course material at the beginning, but most will adjust to studying on the iPad since it will be available anytime, anywhere.
Contacting Mrs. Black
The best way to contact me is through email. You may email me at blackm@cforks.org or use the Contact Mrs. Black form on my homepage to use the built in messaging. I check my email all day, so I will respond the quickest this way. I am also available for students during remedial.
Grades
Quarter averages are calculated with homework assignments counting 10% and all other assignments counting as 90% of students grades. The 90% of the average will include tests, quizzes, projects and participation in class. Parents are encouraged to use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to track their child's grades. Please do not try to add up the scores and divide to verify the average. Most times this does not work due to weighting. If you have questions please do not hesitate to email me.
Homework
It is expected that your work will be done on time. If you have a previous commitment such as a music lesson you are still expected to turn your homework in that day. Most of our work will be electronic, so it will be easy to submit your work any time of the day up to the time of our class. That is saying that all work must be submitted by the beginning of class to get credit for the assignment.
It is expected that you will have respect for everyone in the class as well as the cultures of the people that we will be studying. You are to respect the opinions of others even if you do not agree with them, not interrupt others and refrain from expressing negative opinions of others.
