Mrs. Collier's 4th Grade
Welcome Letter
Dear 4th Graders and Families,
Welcome to fourth grade! I can’t wait to get to know all about you. I hope that you are excited to get to know me. We will learn and grow so much over the coming year. My name is Mrs. Collier and I am a Chenango Forks graduate. Some things that you might find interesting about me are…I love to read, walk my dog and go bird watching. I have taught 21 years at Chenango Forks Elementary School. It is with great happiness that I begin this new adventure in fourth grade with you!
There will be many new learning experiences and friendships to be made this next year. We will explore the Iroquois Nation, New York’s history, our world’s ecosystems, electricity and so much more. Get ready to learn and have fun as we begin a year to remember! It will be important for you to be organized in fourth grade. Please make sure that you have the correct school supplies. A new supply list can be found on my class webpage or on the back of this letter.
There are a few things you can do over the summer to help prepare for September. First of all, READ! Read books, read magazines, read menus and brochures, read to siblings, read comic books, read cereal boxes… Read something every day! Please continue to practice math this summer, too. Estimate how much money your parents are spending at the grocery store, practice adding and subtracting really big numbers, see how many multiplication facts you can do in a minute, or play math games online.
I can’t wait to see you and meet your family as we learn. Have a wonderful summer vacation!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Collier
