English Language Arts

2021-2022

Class Description:

In this class, students will continue to develop as readers, writers, and thinkers through the study of literature and informational texts.  We will read and analyze both fiction and non-fiction texts. We will engage in several forms of writing, including but not limited to, short responses, extended responses, creative writing and research. We will work to improve upon reading and writing skills and strategies using a variety of materials. 

Expectations of the student:

  • Students are expected to access schoology for all class materials 

  • Students will come to class prepared each and everyday

  • Students will raise their hand when they would like to speak or contribute to a class discussion both in person and on zoom

  • Students will always show respect for all members of the classroom community, in and outside of the classroom

  • Students will always try their hardest on each and every assignment

  • Students will remember that working quickly and working hard are two completely different concepts

  • Students will appropriately use electronic devices

  • Students must arrive to class on time or they will be marked tardy

  • Students will follow all school rules as written in the student handbook at all times

Learning Support Center

2021-2022

Class Description:

Learning Support Center is a class in which students with an IEP or 504 plan are provided additional support. During this time students are provided with homework help, accommodations, pre-teaching /re-teaching of coursework, individualized instruction to meet the needs indicated on their IEP or 504 plan as well as strategies to understand and access their own learning processes. This class is designed to help your student become a more independent, intrinsically motivated learner, through the instruction and services mentioned above.

Expectations of the student:

  • Students will come to class prepared each and everyday

  • Students will always show respect for all members of the classroom community.

Study Hall 

2021-2022

Class Description:

A study hall is a period of time set aside during the school day for students to work independently or receive academic help from a teacher or adult. 

Expectations of the student:

  • Students will come to class prepared (work/homework to do, charged chromebook, a book to read etc.) 

  • Students who are done with all current and missing assignments will be expected to read silently

  • Study Hall is a quiet setting for focus and work completion, if you need help please raise your hand quietly

  • If you would like to work with another student, you must ask an adult in the room for permission 

  • Students will always show respect for all members of the classroom community. 

  • Students will appropriately use electronic devices for educational purposes

  • Students must arrive to class on time or they will be marked tardy

  • Students will follow all school rules as written in the student handbook

  • Students are expected to complete 20 minutes of typing.com on each day 1 of the 6 day cycle.
